I spend much of my sparetime photographing concerts for local scenes and festivals. It’s very rewarding to be able to contribute – and of course it doesn’t hurt that I get to experience heaps of awesome music that I perhaps otherwise wouldn’t have considered interesting. Everything from thrash metal to Irish folk songs; I’m there!
Last night I photographed the musician Steinar Raknes who visited with his «Stillhouse» project, featuring guest artist Unni Wilhelmsen. Armed with nothing but a double bass and a loop pedal, and of course their voices, the two musicians presented us with a magical act. And when there’s magic involved, what better way to document that than with a Lensbaby optic? I had tossed an Edge 50 in my camera bag, and grabbed the opportunity to snap a series of frames with it.
